I am an oil painter who blends elements of figurative and abstract imagery into semi-abstracted paintings. My current process consists of selecting a single reference image which I then warp and crop in many unique ways to create a series of paintings all stemming from the same original source. Through this process I explore the multifaceted and complex nature of existence and perspective, capturing the fact that there are many pieces making up the whole and many ways of viewing the same subject. My work often depicts subject matter stemming from nature, portraying the essence of the subject while simultaneously introducing elements of distortion. The interplay between the recognizable and the elusive in my paintings encourages viewers to question their own preconceived notions of beauty and self and invites them to a realm where change and transformation are ever present. Each moment holds potential for renewal and metamorphosis.
