I want my compositions to have a strong painterly character. I am looking for that small piece that sets up the whole of the photograph. Sometimes that piece is metaphorical, sometimes it is actually in the composition. That property can be opposing forms or radical changes in color and value. Often contrast and opposition are the elements that drive the content.
