I find it interesting that people can look at the same thing, but not see the same thing. These collages play with that "he saw/she saw" idea and begin with paper scraps rescued from the 'discard pile' of my husband's, Michael Scotko, pastel landscape paintings. Works that don't make the cut for him, are perfect for me to repurpose. I paint over his old paintings with encaustic wax and then cut shapes from the colors and patterns to use in my work. Where it goes after that changes depending on the moment or my mood. I like exploring the liminal spaces between "his and mine".
